Stage 1: Formation — Hundreds of Millions of Years in the Making
Crystals are not manufactured. They are grown — by the earth itself, through processes of extraordinary complexity and extraordinary slowness, over timescales that dwarf the entire history of human civilisation.
The amethyst in your bracelet began forming roughly 66 million years ago, when volcanic activity in what is now Brazil created vast underground cavities called geodes. Silica-rich groundwater seeped into these cavities over millions of years, and as it slowly cooled and the pressure changed, silicon dioxide molecules began to arrange themselves into the hexagonal crystalline lattice that defines quartz — with trace amounts of iron creating the characteristic deep violet colour that makes amethyst one of the most recognisable and most beloved crystals in the world.
This is why genuine natural crystals are never perfectly uniform. Each one is different, because each one formed under slightly different conditions. That natural variation is not a defect. It is the signature of authenticity. It is the earth’s handwriting.

The journey from the earth to your wrist begins with mining — a process that varies enormously depending on the type of crystal, the location of the deposit, and the scale of the operation.
Our crystals come from mining operations across the world: amethyst from Brazil and Uruguay, citrine from Brazil and Madagascar, rose quartz from Brazil and South Africa, obsidian from Mexico and Iceland, tiger’s eye from South Africa and Australia, moonstone from India and Sri Lanka, and green phantom quartz and gold rutilated quartz primarily from Brazil’s extraordinarily rich Amazon basin deposits.

Stage 3: Cutting and Shaping — From Raw Crystal to Polished Bead
The transformation of a raw crystal into a polished bracelet bead is a skilled craft — one that requires technical precision, aesthetic sensitivity, and a genuine understanding of the material being worked.
The process begins with cutting raw crystal specimens into rough blocks, which are then shaped into spheres using diamond-tipped grinding wheels moving through progressively finer grits. The bead hole is drilled with extraordinary care — perfectly centred, perfectly sized, perfectly clean. The final polishing moves through increasingly fine compounds to produce the glass-smooth, high-lustre surface that characterises a premium crystal bead.
Stage 4: Grading and Selection — Only the Best Make the Cut
Not every bead that emerges from the polishing process makes it into a Karma & Elements bracelet. We evaluate every batch across four dimensions: colour consistency, clarity, surface quality, and size uniformity.
Colour consistency ensures the bracelet reads as a unified, coherent whole on the wrist. Clarity reflects the bead’s capacity to transmit and refract light — and its energetic quality. Surface quality separates a genuinely premium piece from one that is merely acceptable. Size uniformity ensures the bracelet drapes and sits correctly on the wrist. Any bead that does not meet our standards across all four dimensions is rejected.
Stage 5: Stringing — Assembling the Bracelet
The selected beads are strung on high-quality elastic cord — chosen for its strength, elasticity, resistance to degradation, and ability to maintain the correct tension for secure, comfortable wear. The elastic is tied with a knot specifically designed for crystal bracelet construction — strong enough to withstand repeated stretching, and positioned carefully between two beads where it is completely concealed.
Stage 6: Cleansing and Intention-Setting — Where the Crystal Becomes a Tool
This is the stage that distinguishes a Karma & Elements bracelet from a bracelet that is merely a piece of jewellery.
Every crystal absorbs and holds the energetic imprints of everyone and everything it has encountered on its journey. Before a Karma & Elements bracelet is ready to be worn with genuine intention, it is cleansed of these accumulated energetic imprints using sound cleansing with Tibetan singing bowls, moonlight cleansing under the full moon, and selenite cleansing — restoring the crystal to its natural, neutral, fully receptive energetic state.
Following cleansing, we set a foundational intention for each bracelet aligned with the specific crystal’s properties. The full power of the bracelet’s intention is only realised when the wearer adds their own clear, genuine, heartfelt personal intention to the crystal’s natural energetic properties.
